Hay Buying

Welling Alfalfa purchases the hay used in its Alfalfa and Alfa-Timothy Cubes from a wide range of Southern Alberta farmers. We are a facility that produces cubes year-round, so we are always purchasing hay to meet our customers' needs. 

All Alfalfa and Timothy hay needs to meet our standards for quality, moisture, colour, fibre, and protien. We inspect all hay in the field before agreeing to a purchase. If you are interested in selling your hay to us, please contact us:

Spring 2008  Pricing:

We are paying between $80 to $85 per metric ton (tonne), delivered to the plant. 

Buying Area:

Due to freight costs, we typically purchase only from Southern Alberta. We purchase in Lethbridge, Rolling Hills/Brooks/Tilley, and Pincher Creek Areas. 

Directions to our Plant:

From Lethbridge: Travel Southbound on Highway 5 for 30 km past Lethbridge County Airport until you reach the community of Welling. We are located at the South end of Welling, on the East side of the Highway. 

From Coutts, Alberta or Sweetgrass, Montana: Travel Northbound on Highway 4 for 65 km (41 miles) until you reach the Highway 52 Intersection. Travel West on Highway 52 for 16 km (10 miles) through the community of Raymond. Continue on Highway 52 for 6 km (4 miles) until you reach the intersection with Highway 5. Travel  North on Highway 5 for 1 km (0.5 miles) to reach our facility on the East side of the Highway.

From Cardston or Magrath: Travel Northbound on Highway 5 until you reach the community of Welling. We are We are located at the South end of Welling, on the East side of the Highway.
